These are the mottos I live by, whether I am recruiting a new employee, building a training session, resolving grievances, or crafting an employee engagement program. Everything I do must meet these criteria, or I look for another way to do them.
After 23 years in corporate environments (healthcare, manufacturing, distribution and retail), I was no longer feeling fulfilled. I was searching for a way to make contributions on a broader scale. I also realized that there are a lot of business owners who cannot justify the cost of having a Human Resources Professional on staff full-time. So why not just pay for what you need? With over 23 years of progressive HR experience in a variety of sectors, I have the expertise to partner with you and your business, for all of your “people” needs. I enjoy getting to know my clients and becoming an invaluable resource to them.
I love working with clients to hire, onboard and train new talent, develop attendance management programs (I reduced absenteeism from 12% to <3%); performance management; short and long term disability management; create employee handbooks and policy manuals unique to their culture; employee engagement surveys and practices; plus conflict resolution, grievance management and offboarding (fancy word for “termination”).
I have resolved hundreds of grievances, won an arbitration award, greatly reduced absenteeism, and saved my employers tens of thousands of dollars by developing several in-house training programs.
How am I qualified to perform all this work? I completed the HR Management Program at BCIT, then complimented this knowledge with the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation, and a Certificate in Peer Counseling from UBC. This education, coupled with my progressive hands-on job experience and ongoing self-development, has provided me with expertise in “all things people”.
When I am not working with clients to make their lives easier, I am enjoying the many hiking trails of the North Shore with my Aussie Cattle Dog X, chauffeuring my daughter to dance class, baking awesome bread (my stress release!), trying to create my “ideal” garden, or on our annual pilgrimage to the sunny shores of Oahu with my family.
